Image
The new School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) building was built to help improve humanities and social science teaching programs significantly. It has classrooms, laboratories for teaching and research, offices, conference spaces, and auditorium lecture halls. There are also fourteen flexible conference rooms with the most up-to-date audio-visual equipment, which are set up for current teaching methods.  It also has a glass façade and a covered deck. According to the USIU-Africa master plan, it is located in the academic zone. It's close to the Science Centre and sports fields, and it's easy to get to from Gate B. By creating locations where students may readily meet and collaborate, the building design fosters social learning. The new facility will more than double the size of the current classroom capacity.    Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences – United States International University - Africa. P rof. INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY

Image
There is a lot of pressure on universities today to be more diverse and inclusive – not just in terms of race but also gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, social class, national origin, and more. The Nairobi Campus of United States International University (USIU), a San Diego-based college, was established in 1969. The United States International University, Nairobi Campus, became a distinct university in 1999, renaming itself USIU Africa. The university's mission is to assist individuals in better understanding, acquiring information, and developing skills for functioning in a globalized, culturally varied world. Because of its diversity, the school is seen as a friendly atmosphere for everyone interested in applying. An educational institution's inclusive purpose indicates something progressive and significant about its campus: it values diversity and will enable students to express themselves as they see fit. USIU history continued

USIU had merged with the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) to form Alliant International University , in 2001, however USIU-Africa successfully sought to separate itself in 2005 and it became an independent institution with its own accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)  in 2008.   One of the most outstanding buildings in USIU- A the imposing   ultra-modern library and information center occupies 1000 square meters was completed in 2007 at a cost of a whooping Ksh. 550 million and was partly funded through the US Agency for International Development (USAID)’s ASHA program. In 2009, the former library was refurbished and housed the School of Science and Technology and renamed Lillian K. Beam Building in honour of the visionary former Executive Director In 2014, the university rebranded, reverting to its former United States International University – Africa.

NAKUSA women’s championship.

A single day is insufficient to honor the women of the world. A day is set aside, however, to remind women of their mission and how valuable they are to the world. The Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) hosts a competition every year to honor Kenyan female university athletes. As a result, 2022 will not be an exception. Basketball, volleyball, handball, netball, lawn tennis, chess, swimming, and rugby are just a few of the sports that USIU is proud to host. Coco Cola, Nairobi Sports House, School Outfitters, and Zoe were proud sponsors of this event.  Although Kenyatta university ladies took home the  overall championship trophy, all women who participated were considered winners. Celebration of women should be frequent and not dependent on one day.  Cultural week The long awaited return of cultural week is finally here. Every March, USIU-Africa hosts Culture Week, a week-long cultural extravaganza that highlights the university community's cultural variety. The uni
